Remember to consider your physical activity levels as well. The NHS recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity a week, spread evenly across at least four to five days.

Before someone begins a weight loss journey (or take the next step), it’s worth asking themselves why they feel you want or need to lose weight. Is it to improve their health? Has a medical professional recommended weight loss? Or are they worried about what others may think about them?

While it is important for people to lose weight for health reasons if they are overweight, it’s not good to feel ashamed about the need or desire to lose weight. Because body shape and size are so tied in with the western ideal of beauty, people are constantly looking for ‘quick fixes’ to cut corners.
