When does anger become a problem?
The feeling of anger can be a useful emotion that triggers a physical reaction in the body. In Psychology, we call this the ‘fight or flight’ and it normally occurs when we are stressed or threatened.
Adrenaline is pumped around the body. This makes a person feel tense and ready to ‘fight’ the perceived threat, or flee the scene. It is an evolutionary response going way back to our cavemen ancestors. When they met the Sabre-toothed tiger, they would suddenly have enough energy to fight or run very fast.
In today’s modern society many of the threats are perceived rather than physical. The problem here is that fighting or running away isn’t usually an appropriate option. Therefore it can make it difficult for someone to express or release anger, and this is where they can people develop a problem.
Bottling it up
When people aren’t able to express their anger, they often bottle it up. This can cause them to have angry outbursts at usually inappropriate times. It may also make them feel angrier in general, leading them to react more aggressively in other situations.
Everyone’s experience will differ, but the following types of anger issues are recognised as potentially damaging:
- Chronic anger – Ongoing, prolonged anger can affect the immune system and result in other mental health issues.
- Passive anger – When people express their anger in a passive way it often affects relationships.
- Overwhelmed anger – Caused when an individual feels there is simply too much to cope with.
- Self-inflicted anger – When anger is directed toward yourself due to guilt, it can be mentally damaging.
- Judgmental anger – Directed towards others, the feeling of anger usually comes with resentment.
- Volatile anger – Leading to violent outbursts, this form of anger can be troubling for loved ones.
If you don’t learn how to deal with your anger, it can lead you to suffer physical and mental health problems.

Why so angry?
Everyone is different and will have their own triggers that make them angry. It could be that they feel they have been treated wrongly, or they may simply be frustrated. For many people, a sense of not being in control can lead them to feel frustration and anger.
To understand their anger, it can be helpful to look at their own past experiences. It may be their background and upbringing that influence how they cope with their anger. It may be that their parents were abnormally angry and violent when they were young, so they understandably believed this behaviour was normal.
Alternatively, they may have grown up seeing anger as a very scary emotion. This can make them feel frightened and unable to express their anger. Whatever the circumstance may be, understanding the root of their anger is an important step in anger management.

Hypnotherapy for anger
Anger management Hypnotherapy can easily help a person with anger management. My initial aim will be to understand the root cause of their anger.
As I previously mentioned, anger management problems often come from their past experiences. These experiences have shaped their behaviour. So while they may think another person or situation is causing them to be angry, it may well come from themself. Once I understood, I can begin work changing this.
What will happen
During the Anger management Hypnotherapy, I will work on a subconscious level to help change their negative thought processes. This will involve relaxation techniques and suggestions that I will teach them to help control their anger. This will change their reaction to anger triggers. Instead of feeling overwhelmed and angry, they will feel calmer and more relaxed. Feeling calmer in stressful situations helps them to think more clearly so they can react in a more appropriate way. Anger management hypnotherapy will also help with some of the symptoms of anger. For example, if they are suffering from anxiety, stress or depression hypnotherapy eliminate these feelings.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Anger management Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy that uses hypnosis, which is an altered state of consciousness. Contrary to myth and popular belief at no time during the session are you in a trance or unaware of your surroundings. Instead, you are in a very relaxed state of mind.
So that you yourself can experience what it is like to be in the state of Hypnosis, I have included a free sample simply click here
